Context
• Tourism industry is critical to the region - $250m economy and 3,000 jobs
• Port of Echuca and Echuca Wharf are central to the region’s identity and bring 43% of visitors to the destination
• Condition of heritage listed Echuca Wharf is degrading which will restrict future public access
Proposal
• Complete refurbishment of Echuca Wharf and establish value added tourism infrastructure
• Three way partnership totalling $14.2m, including AustralianGovernment, Victorian Government, Shire of Campaspe
• Victorian Government contribution focused on growth and expansion opportunities
• Business Case developed in partnership with Victorian Government
Benefits
• Protection of tourism industry via the retention of up to 95 direct jobs and the iconic heritage wharf
• 36 new ongoing jobs, 30 jobs during project, $4m additional annual economic activity
• Additional 22,000 visitors to Port of Echuca per annum
• Confidence to support significant private investment: discussions in vicinity of $100m
• Adaptation to climate change through further diversification and strengthening of economic base

1. Restoration and refurbishment of the heritage listed Echuca Wharf
2. Desilting of wharf / wet dock precinct
3. Establish Onion Patch mooring infrastructure
4. Establish steam garage, volunteers shed and workshop
5. Establish hull restoration area
6. Refurbishment of milling shed to showcase Paddlesteamer Capital interpretation
7. Establish front office, public toilets, office archive room and interpretive areas
8. Construction of Cadell’s walkway providing compliant access to wharf
9. Establish museum promenade for mooring of boats and interpretation
10. Fit out and establish first stage of the interpretive displays
11. Establish new Retail Areas 1 and 2 in Murray Esplanade
12. Construction of Public Viewing Areas 1 and 4
13. Upgrade of Davies Skyway to build compliant linkages
14. Carparking to service the Visitor Information Centre and Onion Patch
15. Streetscape works in High Street
16. Construction of Hutchinson’s Path linking wet dock areas
